Miracle Boxes get a boost from businesses

To the Editor:

The first 'Miracle Boxes' fundraiser was held on Dec. 4 at the Eagles Hall in Imlay City to help Desert Angels raise money for postage to send boxes to our soldiers serving overseas.

First, I would like to thank the Imlay City Eagles for donating the use of the hall. Without this generous donation we would not have had a place to hold this great event. They did so much to help us make the event the success that it was.

Next I want to thank the Imlay City businesses who donated items—they were awesome with their generosity. Some gave items for our rafffle or silent auction, and some donated money to use for postage. We appreciate the generosity of: Atkins Insurance, Aerie Communications, Van Putten's Auto Repair, Aero Trim, Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Wah Wong Express, Timesaver Legal Forms LLC, Cedar Lanes, Meijer Store-Fort Gratiot, Kroger-Imlay City, Imlay City Ford, Churchill Insurance Agency, Gem & Diamond, Fuzior Printing, Imlay City Big Boy, Sunstar Tanning, Nacho's Taco House, Thimbleberry Gift Shoppe, Imlay City Florist, John's Country Kitchen, L.J. Nail Art, Smokers Palace, Imlay City Senior Citizens Euchre Club, Kelly's Pet Salon, Shampton's Photography, Don's Auto Repair, Unique Floral Design & Gifts, The Pickle Barrel, Henry Nichols, DDS, Styles by Connie, Todd's Glass, Imlay City Lube Center, KC Insurance, ABSolute Results Health Club, Entertaining at Home-Steve Teets, John Lengemann, attorney, Imlay City Rite Aid, Brandon's Auto Detailing, Mike's Starters & Alternators Service, Performance Auto Wash, Imlay City McDonald's, Fulcher's Therapeutic Massage LLC, Imlay City Fitness Center, The Learning Depot, Muxlow Automotive, Red Carpet Keim Belle Valley, Trendsetters Salon, Timmer's Maryland Fried Chicken and Dodge Napa Auto Parts.

To the individuals who helped with donations of cash, items or time I also want to say thank you very much: Lynn Crist, Jim Bollert, Joyce Ashley, Cathy Moody, Gail Reader, Dee Thompson, Chelsea Thompson, Casey Thompson, Earl Gass, Jayna Hampton, Scott Hampton, Lisa Cooper, and Mike Thomas.

A huge thank you to Patsy Thompson who did so much work to help me pull this all together.

I'd also like to thank TSC in Imlay City for the donation of dog beds, and to Paula Alfonsi of Almont's Poochy Parlor for a dog bed and dog items that will be sent to our four-legged soldiers on Dec. 14.

Thanks also to the Imlay City Senior Center for allowing us to hold our packing parties and for being a drop-off center, and to the Tri-County Bank for allowing me to use them as a drop off center and to all of those who have dropped off so much for us to send our soldiers. I don't have the names of everyone to thank, but I am grateful and so are our soldiers who receive the packages.

Please visit our Website,, to read some of the thank you notes we receive, many of them are very touching.

If I am forgotten anyone I am truly sorry.
