The 12th Annual Almont Holly Day Light Parade on Saturday, December 5 was fabulous! With 25 entries, this was our largest parade line up to date. People were amazed at the amount of creativity and lights that were on display. Our judges had a very difficult time choosing the winners with so many varied themes to choose from. As a result, they placed the top four floats as opposed to 3 because of the difficulty of the decision.
The winners were:
•1st Place: Almont PTA with their Polar Express float; •2nd Place: Novak's Supply and Equipment; •3rd Place: Lapeer County FFA; •4th Place: Almont Girl Scout Troops 13180 and 70174 with their Sponge Bob themed float.
Cash prizes were sponsored by: Law Offices of Steve Schneider, Great Lakes Legal Team, Dr. Jay Vanderest, e-Bay Consign-ment and Charlie Brown's, all downtown business owners!
New this year, Santa had the assistance of student Wyatt Adamski to help light the community Christmas Tree.
The Almont Vocal Music students sang in the Fountain Park before the parade and then led hundreds of spectators in an old-fashioned Christmas sing. The Almont DDA and Almont Lions Club provided free popcorn and a community warming fire while members of the Almont Vineyard Church youth group distributed steaming cups of hot cocoa.
The DDA would also like to thank Herb Lowell, Paul Bowman, Stanley Mack, Lynn and Tom Marta, Romeo Ford, Tri-County Bank and Roza's Pizza for their time and donations. A big note of appreciation to all of the volunteers that helped make this event special and we look forward to another great parade next year.
