I would love to tell your readers about an investment I was offered. This investment was in Mrs. Weston's and Ms. Kaluk's third grade class at Capac Elementary School.
The company was called Fall & Ghostly Wear. The children and parents, along with the staff at Capac Elementary were invited to buy stock in the business.
The children were to design and assemble pins. These designs included ghosts, bats, spiders and fall leaves. They would sell for 50 cents apiece.
The money they would make was going to their class for a field trip, or pizza party or whatever they voted on. I thought this was an excellent opportunity for these third graders to learn the value of money and how to apply math to everyday life.
As one of the financial holders in this company it was a huge success. These children worked very hard. Mrs. Weston and Ms. Kaluk and all the children (and the helping moms) deserve to be recognized for their determination and professionalism.
The pins, 350 of them, were sold out by 9 a.m. Oct. 30.
And I just want to add that I made 8 cents on a dollar, too!!! I thought this was an excellent investment.
