God determines who walks into your life. It is up to you to decide who you let walk away, who you let stay and who you refuse to let go. When they marched into my life, wow, I was truly elated!
Back in May when I went looking for the assistance I needed to have my 'Poppa's' military plaque set at his gravesite, I never imagined the reception of help that I would receive. When I wrote and sent letters asking for help, I figured I would get maybe one or two answers back from the 12 different veterans' groups that I had contacted. Two days after I sent the letters the first answer was received from Wayne Jacobs of the Lapeer County 40/8. He took the time to drive to my house and introduce himself and ask to see the plaque. He asked me if I would trust him to take the plaque and take care of everything. Shortly after he left—with the plaque and my trust. My phone started ringing over the next two days as I was contacted by several of the groups.
Plans were made and on Sept. 22, six years to the day when Steve passed, there was a beautiful ceremony. Upon arriving at the cemetery, I noticed a few veterans gathering. By noon, it was overwhelming to see such a large group of veterans who had come to honor my Poppa Steve.
I would like to thank each and every veteran who made this experience an honorable and memorable one. May God bless you all in whatever it is that you may be needing each and every day. May your lives be filled with peace and prosperity.
