As a person interested and responsible for the safety and welfare of our Emmett Township community, I have been following the columns written by Doug Hunter regarding the sheriff's activities throughout the St. Clair County.
I have found the columns to very informative, interesting and also alarming.
Living in the western area of St. Clair County makes it a reach regarding a prompt response to any emergency under normal circumstances. If there is a need for a patrol car in the southernmost area and they need a back up, where does that leave the rest of the county?
I understand budget restraints, we are all dealing with cuts, however, the safety and welfare of all the county residents is a risk with any proposed cuts in the sheriff's budget. It takes one hour to get from one end of the county to the next. I understand there is also the State Police to fall back on, but what about the cuts to them as well?
Please, we need more patrols for the safety and well being of our citizens throughout the entire county. Our sheriff needs your support in keeping more patrols on the roads. Call your Commissioner and let him/her know your concerns regarding this important matter.
