I was deeply disturbed by the column "Illegal Drugs Mean Danger" written by Doug Hunter.
While Doug seems to capture the violence of the criminal world, he seems to miss the source of the problem entirely, using all of the violence which he describes to absurdly demonize the drugs themselves. Both of the cases that Mr. Hunter describes come from the problem of supply with a prohibited substance. Neither of these victims would have died were the substances they wanted legal and available in stores that would be allowed to sell them.
I hope that you and Doug can understand my point, and the fact that it is being missed entirely by this column. I hope that the 'Illegal' rather than 'Drugs' will become more emphasized in your future articles.
