I'm mad. I feel that many of the citizens in our communities were totally misrepresented by Catherine Minolli's column about the tea parties that are happening all around the country. We are average citizens—not right-wing extremists. Most of us have never demonstrated before. But the government has become too big and our senators and congressmen no longer listen to us. They pass bills that force us to pay for things we don't want, have no say in and that our leaders are not willing to live with themselves.
We are tired of too big a government. Why don't they cut back every department by 50%? Why don't they cut or eliminate salaries by 50%? Why don't they eliminate laws that are now obsolete instead of passing new laws? Why fill their halls with their buddies and pay outrageous salaries and bonuses from the pockets of people who are struggling just to make ends meet—that is you and me, the average joe schmoe!
The tea party people are not right wingers—they are average citizens and they are fed up and mad. Too bad your paper and the other media can't quite get it right. I guess it's time to stop reading you also.
