Catherine Minolli's column about the Tea Party Patriots movement last week was a great piece of investigative reporting. The Tea Party Patriots' mission is one of disruption. Some people are having a tough time accepting our new administration. They same to be on the seem tack as the spokesman of the Republican party, Rush Limbaugh, "hoping this administration fails." I receive a lot of emails about President Obama and his administration. Some of it borders on bigotry and the rest are out and out lies. A lot of the stuff reminds me of the garbage the Swift Boat people were putting out during the 1999 presidential campaign. They did a good job derailing John McCain's primary run for the presidency and Kerry's bid for the top job.
Last spring's TEA Party demonstration did have an impressive turnout! Six hundred upset taxpayers protested Washington's tax increases and the current administration's borrowing and spending spree. Where were these Patriots during the last administration when they borrowed and spent $11 trillion? What did we have to show for it? Two 7 year old wars!
The Tea Party Patriots would do us all a favor if they looked west to Lansing instead of East to Washington. Our people in Lansing are working hard to find more ways to tax us. Calculate the amount of tax dollars you send to Lansing versus Washington. I mean all the taxes you pay; state income, property, sales tax, fuel tax just to mention a few and all of the many fees. We have a tax monster of our own to fight.
I believe the reason we don't have a Republican administration today is that after 8 years of the last administration, people asked themselves "is America better off," "am I better off?" You know what the answer was! Like it or not he is our President. Someone said some two hundred years ago "United we stand; Divided we fall."
