Open house spreads the 4-H word

To the Editor:

The Lapeer County 4-H hosted their 2nd annual 4-H open house on July 18 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the MSU Extension Office, 287 W. Nepessing St., Suite 1, in downtown Lapeer. Around 100 people came through, as well as the many wonderful volunteers who helped make the event possible (Thank You!)

Clubs brought animals and displays showing what happens during meetings and shared their knowledge with interested visitors. There was information presented regarding the many opportunities available through 4-H that will remain accessible at the 4-H office.

The vision of Michigan 4-H Youth Development is to mobilize volunteers and communities to meet the needs of youth. 4-H is open to all youth 5-19, and adults 19 and up can apply to be volunteers. Last year, Lapeer County 4-H reached more than 4,000 youth with fun, hands on learning experiences. To quote one young 4-H member, "If I could tell the world one thing, I'd say join 4-H!"
