Festival committee says thanks

To the Editor:

The 29th annual Blueberry Festival is now in the history books. The tents are being taken down, the bleachers and extra tables are being put away and the streets have already been swept, but the memories of a successful event are still lingering.

The Blueberry Festival committee would like to thank everyone's assistance in presenting the festival to all of our guests over the last weekend. We added some touches to give a rural appeal to the festival and we hope that it was received well. We would be remiss if we didn't also thank all those that attended the parade and other festivities.

The streets were packed with cars parking and downtown had a constant flow of pedestrians viewing our food and non-food vendor booths and enjoying the music and talent entertainment on our stages. The kickoff of a few new items like the Guitar Hero tournament, the pony rides, the farmer's market and lawn location for the car show all proved to be received well.

We are extremely thankful for the hard work of the committee members: LuAnn Valdez, Yvonne Wilson, Dan and Lorraine Filer, Danny and MeLisa Filer, Beth Murawski, Tom Wearing, Ian and Joi Kempf, Kim Jorgensen, Delores Heim, Mary Martinez, Dennis Collison, Nancy Jean Brinker, Bryan and Angel Lawlor, Steve Teets, Sandy Iloncai, Sally Reinhardt.

The efforts of the City DPW, the Imlay City Police, the EMS group and the Fire department were very important for this event to succeed and is greatly appreciated, along with the assistance of the local Boy Scout troop that patrolled the grounds and helped with its cleanliness.
