Usually when I receive the Tri-City Times in my box, I scan through the paper just to see what's going on in our community.
The column by Willene Tanis about weddings and marriage in the June 24 issue caught my attention.
In one month I will be doing the same as so many others have done before. Repeating vows and praying that everything goes as planned. I, in my own mind, am a simple girl with simple wants and have been stressing for the past few months. I don't want to blame the mothers, but I've never had dreams of an extravagant cake (which I don't like anyway,) major center pieces, or even flowers on the tuxes. I found the man of my dreams whom I can honestly say is my night in shining armor and that's all I've ever wanted.
After reading Willene's column I realized that I'm not alone in my thoughts of a small, but beautiful wedding all because two people fell in love. Thank you, Willene, for your thoughts and not holding back on what so many young girls need to know. Marriage is more than just a dress and some $50 pair of shoes you'll never wear again. It's the promise you make to God and your spouse in front of family and friends.
Again, thank you and many blessings to Willene and her husband.
