The Lapeer Area Chamber of Commerce, along with the 2009 Lapeer Days Festival Committee, is pleased to announce Lapeer Regional Medical Center (LRMC) as the festival's major sponsor.
One of Michigan's oldest and largest "free" events, Lapeer Days takes place Aug. 21-23 in the streets of downtown Lapeer. The festival, which annually attracts 150,000-plus, features a parade, carnival, car show, midway, and continuous live entertainment on three stages, food and fun.
It's also the area's biggest fundraising event, with more than 20 local non-profit groups taking part in the festival to raise much-needed funds for philanthropic causes that benefit Lapeer County families.
Our festival relies on sponsorship dollars for a large portion of its funding. We're excited about LRMC's commitment to support Lapeer's signature event and we couldn't be more appreciative.
The announcement couldn't have come at a better time, as the Chamber had just received word that a major sponsor for the past several years would be sponsoring at a more conservative level this year. So for the first time in years, the festival was left without a "major" sponsor. The recent economic downturn also has had an adverse effect, with sponsorship commitments for the festival down about half compared to this time last year.
For many families hard hit by the economy, Lapeer Days could be the highlight of their summer. The Lapeer Chamber is very much looking forward to working with LRMC, community organizations and our other sponsors to put on the best show ever.
We are very grateful for the support of LRMC as the festival's major sponsor.
