Four County Foundation awards excellence
To the Editor:
Four County Community Foundation (FCCF) continued to support its local schools with a strong awards season.
•$1,550 in Leadership in Philanthropy Scholarships;
•$3,500 from George & Vera Souten, Jean Curry Stanwood (Almont HS), and the Andy Beam Funds (Capac HS);
•$5,000 in Russell Ligon Memorial Engineering Scholarships (Oxford HS added in 2008);
•$5,000 in Bernard Stremler Memorial Fund (Dryden H.S.);
•$7,000 in Youth Advisory Counsel/W.K. Kellogg Scholarships;
•$19,000 in Murdie Educational Scholarships;
•$32,750 in Hilda Hill Memorial Scholarships.
This brings the 2009 scholarship total to $73,800.
In addition to the above awards, there will be more Four County Community Foundation scholarships this year from the following funds:
•Almont—Robert Creger Memorial Scholarship;
•Armada—Ruth Iassacson Scholarship and the James Neely Foundation;
•Capac—The Justin Bullock Memorial, Harry Bussell Educational, and the Marion Fischer Educational Scholarships;
•Imlay City— Laurie Lee Memorial, Lee Weyer Athletic Fund, R. A. Grettenberger, Alvin North, Glenn L. Smith II Memorial, Richard P. Wheeler Fund, and the Imlay City Educational Endowment Scholarship;
•Romeo—Al Moran Memorial, Beta Sigma Phi-Xi Gamma Rho, Dan Barnabo, David Brockman/Washington Elementary, Eldon Mueller, Ellis Haskell, Ralph Dietz, Romeo Historical Society, Sisson Scholarship, John & Iris Bartholomew, Knights of Columbus/St. Clement, Romeo Athletic Boosters, Starkweather/Garvin and Steven Fritz Sr./Kiwanis Scholarships.
FCCF would like to thank all our donors. Their bequests and planned gifts continue to support the community of their choice. They make a tremendous difference in the lives of young students.
