Congratulations to Berry Geliske and Norm McDunnah, Capac's two newest school board members.
Contrary to Mr. Naeyaert's letter in the May 13th issue, Mr. Geliske and McDunnah were not elected because of the MEA. They were elected because they are both hard-working, committed residents of the Capac School District. Both are well known in Capac because they volunteer countless hours as coaches in Capac's youth soccer and youth baseball leagues. Barry Geliske and Norm McDunnah were elected for one reason only—it was what the voters wanted!
Both individuals will make excellent school board members and will no doubt guide the school district according to their own wisdom. Mr. Naeyaert's suggestion that their election will somehow cause financial ruin for the school district is both insulting and absurd. No one likes to lose elections, but most Americans will agree that the democratic process is an effective form of government. The voters chose Barry Geliske and Norm McDunnah. Let us welcome their leadership. After all, it's what the people want!
