Culture of torture should not be accepted

To the Editor:

The Republican Party is having a hissy fit over the possibility of a investigation into the widespread use of torture by our shadow government and CIA.

Bill Bennett, a spokesman for the Republican Party, said on CNN that if President Obama goes ahead and allows an investigation and charges for using torture that it would "poison" his presidency with the Republican Party. As if they ever worked in a bipartisan manner. A fair minded person would view it as anti-venom after a snake bite. Only after finding out who, where and why can we clean out our system and move on.

Most people aren't aware of the large scale and particulars of the torture used. After some digging, the revelations sickened me so it's no wonder they don't want you to know the cruel and barbaric suffering imposed in your and mine names.

There is much horror to these stories and the people who ordered and those who did these things can't be allowed to live among us. We are a God fearing country and we must separate ourselves from them and those that justify them.
