Improving medical literacy

To the Editor:

Did you know that literacy is the single greatest predictor of health status? It is a stronger predictor than age, income, employment status, education level and racial or ethnic group. Did you know that as many as half of American adults lack sufficient literacy skills to effectively follow the medical directions you give to them? Health care providers will want to join us for an important workshop on Medical Literacy on Feb. 16 at 10:30 a.m. at the deAngeli Library in Lapeer.

You can find out more about this important topic and help to make your practice more patient-friendly. Call us to sign up for important workshop at 810-664-2737. An hour of your time may save your patients' health!
