Donít let your animals suffer, call local shelter

Dear Editor,

I was driving down Burt Rd. in Capac, just west of Berville Rd. during the last snowfall we had. I noticed on the side of the road, sitting next to one of those green electrical boxes, was a Rottweiler all covered with snow. I deliver mail on that road and am there everyday and never noticed her before, so I turned around and pulled up to her.

The sight of her still bothers me. She walked up to my truck, and she was so weak she fell down twice. She was full grown and I swear she only weighed maybe 25 or 30 pounds. Thanks to the help of a young lady from Capac, she made it to an animal shelter in Port Huron. Unfortunately they said, after the vet examined her, she was too starved and dehydrated she couldn't even hold up her head to eat and they had to put her down.

I realize that times are very hard right now, but people, if you can't afford to buy dog food then make a call to your local shelter. If you don't have a phone, please take her to your neighbor and ask them to take her! Don't starve her! She was sitting where you dropped her off, just waiting for you to come back and pick her up!
