Volunteers, businesses cook up successful promotion with heart

Dear Editor,

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the community members that participated in the 2009 Recipe Walk & Heart Display.

This year was a huge success and the feedback has been excellent. We truly hope that the participants enjoyed the event, the Heart Display and now their cookbooks.

To date we have sold 118 cookbooks. If you would still like to purchase one, please contact the DDA at City Hall. The Cookbooks are only $5!

The Heart Display really made the downtown area look fabulous. The businesses that participated are Imlay City Florist, Options Salon, Liebler Insurance, County Press, Big Boy, CSB Bank, National City Bank, Tri-City Times, Michigan Business Products, Kelly's Pet Salon, Focus Studio and Tri-County Bank. If you didn't see them on Saturday, be sure to walk the downtown area before the end of February!

New this year to the Recipe Walk was the Vendor Station that was held at All the Best Bridal. They were generous enough to donate the space so that our 10 vendors and the DDA could set up to greet the participants. The vendors included; Pampered Chef, Mary Kay, Arbonne, Party Lite, Lia Sophia, Jewelry by Stephanie, Entertaining at Home, Home Interiors, Creative Memories, Shaklee and Earth's Legacy.

This event would not have been possible without the support of our area businesses that submitted recipes, participated in the event or BOTH!

The DDA would like to extend an enormous thank you to the following DDA businesses: All the Best Bridal, Bee Gee's Family Shoes, Chick's Barbershop, City Hall, Climate Guard, Creations Floral, CSB Bank, Curves for Women, Employment Giant, Entertaining at Home, Extreme Dance Studios, Focus Studio, Front Row, Hair Designs by Linda, Imlay City Historical Museum, Imlay City Curves, Imlay City Florist, Imlay City True Value Hardware, Jalisco Mexican Café & Bakery, Kelly's Pet Salon, Kitty's Resale Shop, Liebler Agency, Lucy's Coney & Subs, Mayor of Imlay City Rodney Warner, Michigan Business Products, Morrice Lengemann & Miller P.C. Attorneys, National City Bank, Options Salon, Parsch Automotive, Pizza Machine, Pro Tanning, Ruth Hughes Memorial Library, Sportsmens Barber Shop, St. Nick's Knicks & Knacks, Styles by Connie, The Learning Depot, The Pincushion, Thimble-berry Gift Shoppe and Tri-City Times.

Also, this year there was a group of behind the scenes volunteers, the 'Recipe Committee.' These individuals helped to shape this whole event by collecting recipes, typing, proofing, coordinating and all of the other details that could have been forgotten. They weren't because of Nancy Held, Kim Jorgensen and Kelly Pizzuti.

Again, the participation and support from businesses and community members has been wonderful. It is very much appreciated by the Imlay City DDA.
