I would like to thank everyone from the Imlay City and Almont area who donated either homemade cookies or cash to the Desert Angels Miracle Boxes. I was able to take about 70 dozen cookies and enough money to ship 17 boxes.
I also want to thank Rite Aid for their donation of two large bags of leftover Halloween candy. I also want to thank Tri-County Bank and Citizens First Bank for allowing me to leave canisters in their banks to collect donations and the Tri City Times for getting the word out to collect the cookies. I'm sure all who receive the wonderful cookies will all be especially grateful.
I went to a church in Macomb and helped to pack the miracle boxes and the goal was to collect 600 dozen homemade cookies. We did exceeded our goal! We got 1,000 dozen homemade cookies plus some store bought packaged cookies. We packed up 200 Miracle Boxes full of homemade cookies.
We also had donations of 400 pounds of candy (besides what I took), coffee, tea, hot chocolate mix, socks, candy canes, stocking caps, crackers, peanuts, Christmas decorations and cards, snack bars just to name some of the stuff. There were 3 rows of 3' x 8' tables covered with donations to fill the boxes. It was amazing and the boxes were packed to the max.
Please be watching for me again at the end of January. I have a plan to send U.S. troops Valentine packages from Imlay City. My email address is email@example.com if you have any questions or any family member that is serving overseas, please send me his or her address and they can be added to the list to get "Miracle Boxes."
