Party abandons workers

Dear Editor,

This is what the Republican Party is all about, endless wars, economic devastation and now national bankruptcy. The very people that have squandered our national treasure are fighting tooth and nail any aid to our own auto industry.

The Republican party has developed the skill to win or contend with dubious candidates, but have no idea how to govern a country for ALL the people. We are on a course to turn us into a Third World country. How else can you explain their deliberate effort to deny the bailout loan for the auto companies? Like we can afford to ignore the loss of three million more jobs.

How could the Republican Party and some Democrats deny and betray the contributions put forth by the American car industry, especially the UAW union worker whose taxes and purchasing power lifted the standard of living of ALL the country.

The evil heart of this Republican Party is insisting that the car companies enter bankruptcy so that they will break their union contracts. The destruction of discretionary income by working people lies at the core of our economic malaise.

The $25 billion asked by the auto companies is chump money (1/28th) compared to the $700 billion given to the banks and Wall Street. The Republicans have blown over a trillion dollars on a war based on lies. Billions are waiting at Halliburton and Vanguard corporations for the arrival of Bush and Cheney. Each budget year without so much as a blink of an eye our government gives billions away in foreign aid. If Honda or Toyota were in a bind don't you think their Japanese government would help?

The automobile industry has been hard hit by the outrageous price of gas and energy as have we all. The domestic car industry has supplied the heartbeat of our economy for decades. I think it's a disgrace and shame to see how they are being treated in Washington when they are in need.
