Show raised needed funds for Arcadia park

Dear Editor,

"The smallest good

deed is better than

the grandest intention."

On behalf of the Arcadia Township Park committee I would like to thank so many for the awesome event this township hosted on October 4. By having a car/truck/tractor and craft show with children's games and a Chinese auction, this township was able to raise more than $2,400 to be used to assist the development of the Elsie Benner Memorial Park located on the township grounds in Lum.

Special thanks to the committee that worked so well together to bring this event together: Sharna Smith, Sue Woloczyk, Marlene Lazar, Patti Cohoon, Ellen Jostock, Gayle Powell, Kathy Howe, Sue Deming, Reese Kittel, Bob and Diane Hill, David Weidman, Sheryl Silva, Barb Mauk and Annie Hazelwood.

Additional thanks go to those who gave up a little or a lot of their time and resourrces to make the park fundraiser possible: Arcadia Township firefighters Tom Knaggs and Ken LaLone, George Lazar, Tracy, Brittany and Bailey Lazar, Officer Victor Clement, Jan Walton, Bernice Dingess, Mary Kobylczak and Sparkles the Clown.

A huge thank you goes to our donors and benefactors whose good deeds allowed us to make our grandest intention a reality: Lapeer County Bank & Trust, Dort Federal Credit Union, C.S. Dodge and Sons, Inc., Jim's Recycling, Idle Spur Market, Best's Hardware, Wildwood Beverage, Inc. (d/b/a Wendy's), McDonald's of Imlay City, JR Electrical Supply in Oxford, Castle Creek Golf Course, Cedar Lanes, Muffler Man, Country Smoke House, Cramer's Storage, Dutch Mill, Mortimer Lumber, Dimmer-Warren, Lumberjack Shack, National City Bank, Gayle Powell-Avon, The Book Shelf, Rowley's Tire, The Northern Farm Market of Armada, Blake's Orchard, Fairway of North Branch, McDonald's of Lapeer, Carl Coffey at 103.1 radio.

This was a fun-filled family day to help us raise money for our community park and it would not have been possible without the assistance of all those listed above. We hope to make this an annual event so please watch for it next year. We would love to have you come to downtown Lum and spend the day with us!
