Heritage Color Tour offered discovery

Dear Editor,

The 11th Country Heritage Color Tour was very successful in bringing many new people into the area on this annual discovery trip. Fourteen 'off the beaten path' destinations held a special open house providing folks with a down home country experience, over the weekend of October 3-5, celebrating our local heritage and quiet way of life.

It was a lovely weekend with just enough rain to keep folks from their yards raking leaves, and a hint of color had begun, lending itself to the fall atmosphere. The gas prices went down a bit which helped to encourage the drive on this self-guided tour. Milking a goat, lavender fields, pottery demos, delicious pork sandwiches, art, antiques, handmade soaps, herb wreaths, topiaries, woodcrafts, and felting are a few of the highlights. We hope you'll mark your calendar for next year, the first weekend in October.

We the CHCT participants would like to extend a heartfelt Thank You to ABC Signs, Almont's Tri-County Bank and Charlie Brown's along with Tri-City Times for their sponsorship.

As director, I'd like to extend a very special Thank You to each of these remarkable people: Sue Miller, Karen McRoberts, Carrie and Dawn of ABC Signs, Michelle Breen and Carole Marsh for their helping hearts and ready smiles, making the planning a pleasurable experience. Their kinds words of encouragement and creative marketing ideas helped to make the tour successfully attended.

We look forward to 2009, inspired to work with this amazing network of creative business individuals along with the Almont Heritage Festival Committee.

To Almont and our surrounding communities, we are in appreciation your support of local artists, crafters, shopkeepers and farmers. You have helped to generate much revenue which will stay within our state's economy. Thank you for shopping handmade in Michigan and for buying locally grown produce. We look forward to greeting you during this upcoming holiday season.
