The Chamber of Commerce would like to thank everyone that has been involved with the Capac Summer Fest.
We would also like to encourage some citizens that have enjoyed the last few Capac Days festivals to organize a festival committee that will take over the planning of the event. The chamber has watched other successful festivals and has realized that they all have a special committee to plan them—they are not left solely to the Chamber of Commerce to organize.
The chamber would continue to give support where needed and to help organize this endeavor. The chamber would still sponsor an event and would encourage others to do the same.
The chamber would like to become more of a Chamber of Commerce rather than a festival committee which is what has happened over the past few years. We need to spend more time concentrating on and promoting local businesses instead of being the sole entity for organizing and promoting Capac Days. So if you are one of the many people who have always enjoyed Capac Days and have some fresh ideas, then this may be the job for you.
Also, the Chamber of Commerce is looking for some brave business owners that would like to be the new chamber president and new treasurer as Dr. Todd Grubb and Ms. Barb Quain, after many years in their positions, are stepping down.
Anyone interested in filling either of these positions should attend the next chamber meeting, which will be held Tuesday, Sept. 16 at the Capac Historical Museum.
