Paper should stick to “feel good” stories

Dear Editor,

How nice it was to read all the up lifting stories in the latest Opinion Page in the August 27th issue.

To read about police, firefighters, community volunteers, area golfers, contest winners and just plain old folks choosing to park and donate to the Lapeer Family Literacy Center during the recent Lapeer Days, I'm sure made everyone in their communities quite proud.

Unfortunately, that short- lived gratification was quickly dissolved when you choose to once again give credence to Almont's residential left-wing radical liberial Mr. Tribula and let him spew his hate speech in our local newspaper. To allow him to state that anyone who votes for John McCain or Candace Miller will 'go to hell' was extreme lack of judgment on your editor's part. And she also needs to be taken to task for allowing Tom Wearing, a weekly columnist, to put forth his obvious Democratic affection and symbolic liberial obnoxious, offensive talk towards anyone who does follow their ideas.

Please stick to the positive and feel good stories in our community and leave the nasty opinions from these two clueless individuals to be printed elsewhere. Or nowhere, would be more appropriate in my view.

Editor's note: As is the case with most newspapers, the Opinion Page is designed for voices and views from all individuals as they are a reflection of the thoughts and opinions of the communities we serve, as indicated by this and other letters to the editor on this page and in past editions.

Mr. Greg Taylor, Allenton
