Political fiction from ‘left’ spoils writer’s fun

Dear Editor,

Until I received the latest edition of the Tri-City Times I had no idea that Tom Wearing wrote fiction. Since I am a fan of political fiction, I was pleasantly surprised to find Mr. Wearing's offering in that genre.

Having said that, I feel compelled to offer some advice. When writing fiction, it is risky to use the names of real people, especially when your fantasy could be misconstrued as a 'hate piece.' If you must use real people in your work, make sure that what you have them say or do actually happened, or make it clear that this is pure fiction.

If I am wrong and Mr. Wearing was serious, I suggest he do some research to find out why I thought he was writing a piece of fiction.

As a political independent, I enjoy listening to the two 'major' parties go at each other, but the hate coming from the left in recent years has spoiled the fun. I hope Tom Wearing's column was a piece of fiction intended to show the depths to which the left has sunk. If not, then my belief that I don't have enough money to be a Republican, but am too intelligent to be a Democrat has been reinforced.
