Months of planning made it all possible

Dear Editor,

Now that the barricades and stages are gone and the tents are about to be picked up, Imlay City only has memories of the 28th Annual Blueberry Festival.

Mother Nature thought we needed a little watering on Friday, but Saturday was such a beautiful day. I don't remember as many people ever staying in downtown into the evening hours.

I would like to take this time to thank all those sponsors, participants and volunteers that truly helped present a very successful Blueberry Festival to showcase our quaint downtown Imlay City. It was with months of planning, invitations and solicitations that this event was able to be offered for free participation. We were able to witness the many talented dancers, young and more experienced. We were able to listen to the pleasant sound of up and coming performers along with already accomplished entertainers all for the same fee or our time.

Many people came to town and did experience the hometown hospitality that the downtown merchants hand out along with their products and services. I personally received many comments on how people thought that everyone was "so nice up here." It is with sincere gratitude that I would like to thank our sponsors whom donated over $500 including the Lapeer Co. conventions Bureau, CSB Bank, Citizens First Viscount Pool & Spas, Imlay City Ford, Toyo Seat, Lapeer Co. Bank & Trust, Tri-County Bank, National City Bank, Imlay Big Boy Restaurant and all of the other sponsors.

I would like to thank the City Manager, Amy Planck, and the City of Imlay City, the tireless efforts of the Imlay City DPW, the Imlay City Police and Fire Departments, The Eastern Michigan Fair Board, the Imlay City Chamber Board, the wonderful assistance by the staff at Tri-City Times, and the Blueberry Festival Committee comprising of Brad Barrett, Dennis Collison, Dan & Lorrain filer, Danny & Missy Filer, Delores Heim, Sandy & Karl Iloncai, Kim Jorgensen, Joi and Ian Kempf, Beth Murawski, Mary Martinez, Sally Reinhardt, LuAnn Valdez, Tom Wearing, Yvonne Wilson and Fran Bannister for her help in the Information Booth.

I would also like to thank the time and effort of my co-chair, Julie Salsido.
