My name is Ian McDonald and I was one of the people who participated in the Macomb Academy of Arts and Sciences backpacking trip this summer which was featured in the July 16, 2008 Lifestyles section.
While talking to one of your writers I learned that he, along with many others, had never even heard of the Academy, and so I am writing this letter to educate and inform people about the opportunities this school offers.
The Macomb Academy of Arts and Sciences is a place of learning and discovery where students explore how math and science are related, and how they pertain to real life situations. The honors courses offered by the school are unlike any others. Math, science, technology, and research are all combined to accomplish the supreme goal of education.
And with a staff unlike any other it is easy to see why the graduates are so successful in college. The teachers make learning exciting, challenging the students to ask questions and find answers. As for the administration and the school help; I have never seen a group of people work as hard for the students as those at the Academy.
I'm not sure this letter can truly explain what the Macomb Academy of Arts and Sciences has done for its students so I urge you to visit the school. As for me, I would just like to thank all of the people at the Academy who attributed to my graduation and education. I know I am ready for college.
