"What's cooking for charity?" The Family Literacy Center has the answer. Thanks to the efforts of our sponsors, Coldwell Banker Whitman-Pope, the Historic White Horse Inn and the Metamora Chamber of Commerce, more than $1,700 was raised to support important literacy service in Lapeer County on Tuesday, June 3.
The lunch, held in the Oakwood Room at Devil's Ridge Golf Club, featured a cooking lesson by executive chef Bob Crossen. Donors and supporters made the accompanying silent auction successful.
The Family Literacy Center provides free, confidential tutoring for adults who live or work in Lapeer County and offers free skill-building workshops for parents and children. For more information call the Center at 810-664-2737 or visit their website at readlapeer.org
