Veterans Honor Roll program in Imlay City was excellent

Dear Editor,

I would like to thank the Imlay City High School administration and teachers for allowing and encouraging their students to explore the subject of our military veterans, what they did during their service, what they came home to, and for recognizing the sacrifices they made in service of our country.

Imlay City High School's first Veteran's Honor Roll reception was a surprising and refreshing event which I was admittedly hesitant to attend. Throughout the years I have periodically wondered why and for whom I fought a war. On Fri., Nov. 30 I was reminded of the answer standing all around me in the library of the high school—the bright eyes and shining faces of another generation of children who have had the opportunity to grow up in a free America.

I express my heartfelt thanks to all of the students for taking the time to look back over their shoulders to learn about, acknowledge and thank all of the veterans of our community from the wars of World War I to the present.
