Church collecting Christmas shoebox gifts

Dear Editor,

This year, the West Goodland United Methodist Church is pleased to again serve as a relay center for collecting shoebox gifts to be sent all over the world to poverty areas. Children from the ages of 2-14 will receive a shoebox gift filled with toys, school supplies, hygiene items or clothes. These children would likely receive no gift at all without our gifts of compassion.

Samaritan's Purse, who coordinates this wonderful effort, requests a $7 donation to help with mailing expenses if you are able. Please make checks payable to Samaritan's Purse.

More information is available at the West Goodland United Methodist Church office. Call 724-1747 or 810-417-0714 for details or to receive a packing guide to help you put together a box. Nothing resembling a war-like item, nothing breakable or spillable or damaged by temperatures can be sent.

West Goodland United Methodist Church will be open to receive donated boxes through Nov. 18. Drop off items today (Wed., Nov. 14) and Thurs., Nov. 15 from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. Friday hours are from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m., hours are 9 a.m.-noon on Saturday and 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. on Sunday.

Please help us to help these children living in desperate conditions.
