Volunteers needed to help plan Relay for Life

Dear Editor,

The American Cancer Society and citizens in the Capac community are rallying together to fight cancer by planning the first Relay For Life event of Capac.

Relay For Life is the American Cancer Society's signature fundraising event, where teams of people camp out for 24 hours, walking laps on a track, socializing and participating in planned activities. Teams can be made up of family, friends, co-workers or community groups.

Volunteers still are needed to help plan the 2008 event, scheduled for May 31-June 1, 2008. An informational meeting to form a Relay committee is scheduled for 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, October 23, 2007 at the Capac Historical Society's Community Room. The Relay For Life of Capac will be held at Capac High School Stadium. For more information on Relay or to volunteer, call Leslie Goudreau, Event Chair at 810-395-2627.

The American Cancer Society is dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem by saving lives, diminishing suffering and preventing cancer through research, education, advocacy and service. Founded in 1913 and with national headquarters in Atlanta, the Society has 13 regional divisions and local offices in 3,400 communities, involving millions of volunteers across the United States. For more information anytime, call toll free 1-800-ACS-2345 or visit www.cancer.org.
