As Labor Day rolls around again, I want to remind the generous and caring people of Lapeer County to do what they have done so magnificently for over four decades: support my MDA Telethon.
This summer, as in the past, more than 4,000 young people with neuromuscular diseases were able to enjoy a week of summer camp at more than 90 Muscular Dystrophy Association camps across the country. In Metro-Detroit and Southeastern Michigan, over 150 children attended MDA Summer Camp at Camp Cavell in Lexington and Lion's Bear Lake Camp in Lapeer.
This year, thousands of adults and children, with sometimes devastating and frightening neuromuscular diseases, received care by top health professionals at 225 hospital-affiliated clinics that MDA supports. MDA sponsors local clinics at Children's Hospital in Detroit, the Michigan Institute for Neuromuscular Disorders (M.I.N.D.) in Farmington Hills and at Harper Univer-sity in Detroit.
So, join us Sept. 2-3 on WNEM TV5 or on the Internet at www.mda.org, and help with what you can.
I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
