The recently repaved Bowers Road between M-53 and Sisson Road on the border of Goodland and Imlay townships is still unfinished. Do the governments that hire these companies not give stringent enough deadlines? There is no reason for it to be unfinished. The shoulder, lines, and the tire safety warning strips for the approach to M-53 are still not done and the road was completed a couple of weeks ago. Do these companies get paid enough money to go on to the next project before they finish the one they're on, or what?
This is by far not an isolated incident. Get with it government. We're paying the bills, so we depend on you to dictate the deadlines, not the paving companies!
Editor's note: Lapeer County Road Commission Managing Director Rick Pearson said county road crews do the shoulder work because it is less expensive than using the paving companies. The job was to begin the first week in August, but the county's shoulder work equipment was in need of repair. It has since been repaired and work in that area was scheduled to begin on Monday. However, the wet weather has delayed the project once again. Pearson says work will begin as soon as conditions dry out.
