I would like to relate a heart-warming story. Last week, our kindergarten classes at Capac Elementary School started out to walk to the library and ice cream store in town. We knew it might be a little difficult to get to our destination because of the road construction on Main Street.
We got to the library by walking on the back streets and then spoke to the road construction workers when we were finished with our library tour. Much to our amazement, the workers said they would be happy to stop asphalting to let us walk right across their construction zone! Of course, we had some delighted kindergarteners.
The workers not only let us cross over to the ice cream store, but they each walked a group of children themselves! I wish I had a picture—the caption would have read 'Construction workers make ice cream rescue.'
