Auction was big boost to Literacy Center


Dear Editor,

Where would we be without friends? The Family Literacy Center thanks its friends, donors and supporters for their generosity during this year's benefit dinner and auction at the Lapeer Country Club.

More than $20,000 was raised to help Lapeer families reach important literacy goals. More than 100 kind and charitable donors gave unique artwork, jewelry, furniture and gift certificates and other unique items to help generate some very competitive bidding.

Thank you to Brian Rowley for donating his services as auctioneer. We are also grateful for our generous sponsors, the Kiwanis Club of Lapeer, American Speedy Printing Centers, Mike & Deanne Schlusler, Detroit Edison Company, Byron Konschuh, Mrs. and Mrs. B. Kilbourn, Durakon, Knee and Orthopaedic Center, Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Mr. and Mrs. P. Orr, Lapeer Regional Medical Center, Mark P. Yonan, and Lapeer County Bank and Trust Company.
