ALMONT — Four soccer players hailing from Almont competed at the USL Super Y League North American Finals in Tampa, Florida recently.
Aaron Schapman, Kyle McNeil, Hector DelToro and Tyler Gorde suited up for the Alliance Academy team at the event. Their squad earned the right to compete at the tournament by winning the U16 Midwest Region this past summer.
Alliance Academy kicked off the their four-match tournament stint with a 2-1 loss to Ottawa Fury from Canada on Friday, November 19.
Schapman netted the lone Alliance Academy goal there.
The following day the team tied Parsippany SC from New Jersey. That contest ended in a 0-0 outcome.
Alliance Academy then squared off against Super Nova FC on Sunday, November 21.
When the clash concluded, Super Nova FC had claimed a 3-0 win.
When the final scores were added up, Alliance Academy had prevailed by a 5-3.
There the team was led by Schapman's three-goal performance.
With their 1-2-1 tournament showing, Alliance Academy wound up 11th in their age group.
