December 01, 2010 ATTICA TWP. — An Attica Twp. woman was killed in a two-vehicle accident on Tuesday, Nov. 30.
Seventy-eight year-old Irene Paquin died as a result of injuries she suffered after the car she was riding in was broadsided at Lake Pleasant and Imlay City roads around 4 p.m.
According to Michigan State Police from the Lapeer Post, a 39 year-old Lapeer man was westbound on Imlay City Road when he failed to stop at the Lake Pleasant Road intersection. His 2002 Dodge pickup collided with the 1995 Oldsmobile in which Irene Paquin was a front seat passenger. Eighty-one year-old Paul Paquin was behind the wheel of the Oldsmobile. He was seriously injured but is expected to make a full recovery.
Police have not released the identity of the other driver.
All occupants were reportedly wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash and alcohol does not appear to be a factor.
The Lapeer County Sheriff's Department, Attica Twp. Fire Department, Lapeer County EMS and a Michigan State Police traffic crash reconstruction team assisted on scene.
Elsewhere in Lapeer County, a 46 year-old Metamora man, Chad Kadelsik, died on Tuesday morning as the result of a one-vehicle accident on Pratt Road. The pickup truck he was driving veered off the road and struck a tree. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
