November 10, 2010 YALE — Police are investigating a double stabbing that occured early on Friday, Nov. 12.
Chief Michael Redman says in a press release that police were dispatched to a S. Main St. home just after 12 a.m. where a male was found deceased. A female in the home had multiple stab wounds and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
According to media interviews Redman gave after issuing the press release, the attacker entered the home through a window, went to the couple's bedroom and stabbed them. The man attempted to fend off the assailant but succumbed to his wounds. The female victim is reportedly a teacher in the Yale School district.
Police have said there is a person of interest.
Assisting in the investigation is the St. Clair County Sheriff's Department, K-9 units from Port Huron Police and the Sanilac County Sheriff's Department, the Michigan State Police Crime Lab and the Michigan State Police Richmond Post.
Friday classes at Yale schools were cancelled as a result.
