TRI-CITY AREA — Dylan Creger logged a 15:54 time for second and David Burkland notched a 17:07 clocking en route to an eighth, leading the Almont boys' cross country team to a third-place finish last at a Division 3 regional meet last Saturday.

Goodells County Park is where the action unfolded.

Flint Powers Catholic (55 points) earned the distinction of team champion at meet's end. Frankenmuth ranked second, thanks to a 70-point total, and Almont scored 83 for third.

Those three schools, along with anyone ranking among the top-15 finishers, advance to this Saturday's Division 3 state finals at the Brooklyn-based Michigan International Speedway. That race lists a 10:30 a.m. starting time.

Macomb Lutheran North (114 points) was fourth at Saturday's regional meet. They were followed by Marlette (126 points), Vassar (139), Caro (208), Birch Run (231), Clawson (268), Capac (280), Warren Michigan Collegiate (301), Montrose (320), Bishop Foley (351) and Chandler Park Academy (389).

Burton Bendle and Sandusky also sent runners to the starting-line but did not field complete squads.

Josh Klebba, 13th, 17:21; registered Almont's next swiftest regional time. The Raiders also counted results from Kyle Robinson, 28th, 18:09; and James Strachan, 34th, 18:21.

Joe Cutino, 36th, 18:27; led Capac. He was backed by Ryan Najor, 54th, 19:10; A.J. Misch, 19:22; Noah Mailloux, 62nd, 19:27; and Eric Sermo, 74th, 20:26.
