ALMONT — Almont (no. 4, Division 4) picked up a 5-3 road victory over Richmond in a Blue Water Area Conference boys' tennis matchup last Wednesday.
With the result, Almont improves to 1-0 versus BWAC adversaries. Richmond falls to 0-1 against league foes.
In individual action, Matt Bulger netted a 6-2, 6-0 top flight win against Dave Schroudt; Domenic Curtis dropped a 2-6, 3-6 verdict to Kyle Wonsowicz at second singles; Brian Houghton fell by a 4-6, 4-6 third flight count to Adam Ozark; and Jake Matthews notched a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Tyler Bielecki at fourth singles.
As far as doubles action was concerned, Shane Rickman and Ryan Chilcote dropped a 3-6, 3-6 top flight verdict to JJ Martin and Chris Gagleard; Mitch Potapa and Mitchel Bulger registered a 6-4, 1-6, 7-6 (7-5) triumph against Jon Kovalcik and Cole McCloskey at second doubles; Terry Papineau and Ian Saba obtained a 6-1, 6-4 third flight win against Ike Pollari and Nick Czarnecki; and Garret Borton and Jacob Ushman secured a 6-0, 6-3 win against Matt Van Ham and Jeremy Sutton at fourth doubles.
