ALMONT — Almont outscored their opposition by a combined 57-12 count, paving the way to a first-place finish among 8 and Under Division entries at the Imlay City All-Star Baseball Tournament this past weekend.
The team started their title-producing run with a 9-1 win Saturday against Attica.
Later that day, Almont went to 2-0 with a 13-4 victory over Memphis.
The following day Almont kept their perfect record intact, thanks to an 18-6 triumph against Imlay City.
Almont then put the finishing touches on an unbeaten tournament run with a 17-1 win over Otisville.
Gavin Dempz, Reis Stine, Charlie Koenig, Kyle Kanirie, Brett Wrobel, Blake Cody, Austin Amlotte, Michael Rinke, Josh Hellebuyck, Jacob Housemann, Colin Creger and Jacob Korte made up Almont's championship roster. The team was guided to their title by coaches Mark Dempz, Tom Wrobel, Derek Stine and Ed Koenig.
