Lacertosa enjoys successful return to running races

IMLAY CITY — Mandy Lacertosa, a 2010 graduate of Imlay City High School, gave a good account of herself at the Solstice 10K Run in Northville on Saturday, June 26th.

She earned the distinction of pacesetter, stopping the watch 42:22 after the race started.

That left Lacertosa (who was making her competitive debut at the distance) with a runaway victory, besting her closest rival by more than a two-minute margin.

A total of 232 female runners competed.

Lacertosa also ranked 15th overall among the 472-runner field.

Her performance marked a triumphant return to the sport that she excelled in previously.

She was forced to sit out her entire senior track season due to a torn meniscus and has been rehabbing her knee since that time.

Lacertosa plans to run in several road races over the course of this summer.

Kevin Kissane has been covering high school sports for the Tri-City Times since 1985. When not standing on a field or court with his camera and notepad, he enjoys golf, travel and family.
