June 16, 2010 Once again the time of year is here where everyone is busy with Graduation parties, weddings, vacations and more. With all the items you need for these events remember to shop Imlay City first! Putting your hard earned dollars into the local economy helps support your area. So the next time you go shopping try a local store. The Chamber Web site has a directory of all chamber members and their contact information. We encourage you to support these and other area businesses by shopping Imlay City first!
This past weekend I was a participant in the Lapeer County Relay For Life. I have been involved in the Relay for Life for many years now, but this was my first in Lapeer County. It was a great success this year with funds raised in excess of $173,000 for the American Cancer Society. The teams, committee and community were very supportive and raised more money this year than was anticipated by the American Cancer Society. It was a lot of fun and a great experience to be part of.
Blueberry Celebrity Serve Fundraiser
On June 4th we held a Celebrity Serve at the newly opened Bugsy's North to raise money for this year's Blueberry Festival. We appreciate all the hard work our servers did and the support we received from the friendly staff at Bugsy's North. A special thank you to Lou, the owner, for allowing us to host this event at his establishment and his generous donation to the festival. We were able to generate almost $700 in tips and a percentage of the bills' total. We also appreciated all those who came out to support and enjoy the good food they served at Bugsy's North.
