Imlay City girls place fourth in BWAC Conference Track Meet

TRI-CITY AREA — The Imlay City, Almont and Capac girls' track teams generated respective finishes of fourth, fifth and seventh Tuesday, May 25 at the Blue Water Area Conference League Meet hosted by Almont High School.

Yale topped the standings with 180.5 points. They were followed by Cros-Lex (151 points), Algonac (55), Imlay City (41), Almont (35), Armada (28.5), Capac (22) and Richmond (14).

Stephanie Francis, pole vault, 9 feet; led Imlay City with a second.

Michelle Marcial, 100 (16.9 seconds) and 300-meter (49.6 seconds) hurdles; collected Imlay City's individual event thirds.

The Imlay City 400 and 800 relays of Andrea Gould, Caley Campbell, Taelor Webb and Marcial wound up third as well. They were timed in 53.54 seconds and 1:52.52, respectively.

Kelly Carland, shot put, 29 feet 4 inches; and Webb, 200-meter dash, 28.12 seconds; generated Imlay City's fifths.

Imlay City also received sixths courtesy of Campbell, long jump, 14 feet 1 inch; plus Millie Velez, shot put (28 feet) and discus (87 feet 7 inches).

The 3200 relay of Alyssa Leach, Kayla Johnson, Scotti Langley and Lauren Deneweth paced Almont with a first. It took them 10:20.65 to accomplish the feat.

Deneweth, 800 (2:28.9) and 1600-meter (5:40.27) runs; gave Almont a pair of individual event thirds.

The Almont 1600 relay of Ally Matthews, Johnson, Langley and Deneweth pulled up third as well. They stopped the watch at 4:24.59 en route.

Johnson, 400-meter dash, 1:06.98; and Langley, 800 (2:35.73) and 1600 (5:43.58) runs; collected Almont's fifths.

Leach, 3200-meter run, 13:41.1; rounded out the list of Almont placewinners with a sixth.

Jennica Polzin, pole vault, 9 feet; led Capac with a first that day. The performance equaled her school record set earlier this season and first established by Olivia Kolaczynski during the 2004 campaign.

Nina Dalecki, discus, 90 feet 11 inches; gave Capac an individual event fourth.

The Capac 400-meter relay of BreeAnn Bower, Stephanie Meyer, Shadi Rogers and Polzin ranked fourth as well. They were timed in 54.94 seconds.

The 800 (Cheyenne Jurick, Kaitlynn Reeve, Rogers and Bower) and 1600 Brandi Peyerk, Rogers, Meyer and Reeve) relays completed the list of Capac placewinners with sixths.
