'Spring Fling' this weekend
Almont plans to roll out welcome mat and spring-related activities
May 19, 2010ALMONT — Come on out and welcome the season at the 3rd Annual "Spring Fling" this weekend, May 22-23.
The celebration runs concurrently with downtown sidewalk sales and the ever-popular Garage Sale Frenzy, covering both the village and township.
Co-sponsored by the Almont Homecoming Committee and Downtown Development Authority, the 2010 "Frenzy" features 55 registered garage sales, the most ever for the event.

"We've enjoyed a great response for the garage sales," said DDA Director Nancy Boxey. "It should be bustling around town."
Boxey said young artists won't want to miss out on the "Chalk Around the Fountain Contest," to take place Saturday, May 22 at 10 a.m. at the Pocket Park downtown.
The "chalk art" contest is sponsored by the Almont American Legion Auxiliary and is open to all students in grades 6-12. Cash prizes will be awarded the winners.
From 11 a.m.-6 p.m. on Saturday, an Art Show will be held at the Paradise Saloon, featuring wood and metal works by Polansky Designs, along with Jewelry by Ruth.
Other activities include a book sale at the Almont Library, rummage sale at the Almont Lions Club and an open house and program at the Almont Historical Museum (10 a.m.-3 p.m.). The Almont Flea Market will be open Saturday from 8 a.m.-4 p.m.

While you're checking out all the Spring Fling activities, take time to enjoy the diverse cuisine at participating eateries.
For the cost of a single $10 ticket, the hungry and vanquished can partake in designated food items at the Almont Pastry & Donut Shop, Buccilli's Pies, Cakes & Pizza; Roza's Pizza, Charlie Brown's, the Huddle Bar & Grill, Maria's Place, Raider Country Coney Island, Hungry Howie's and The Mill & Brewhouse.
"Taste of Almont" tickets may be purchased at the DDA office, the Almont Village offices, Tri-County, CSB and PNC banks, and the Mobil gas station.
