Spartans outscore rival Raiders, 74-63

Boys' track clash comes down to wire in BWAC meet

TRI-CITY AREA — Imlay City outpointed visiting Almont, 74-63, in a Blue Water Area Conference boys' track battle last Thursday.

Brandon Diplock, pole vault, 12 feet; Kevin Shene, 100 (11.33 seconds), 200 (no time available) and 400-meter (52.33 seconds) dashes; and Alan Manjarrez, 3200 run, 10:56.89; led Imlay City with individual event firsts.

The Imlay City 400, 800 and 1600 relays also prevailed. They logged respective clockings of 46.28 seconds, 1:35.78 and 3:37.68 en route.

Matt Van Dyk, high jump (6 feet) and (19 feet 5 inches); Brian Guldi, shot put, 42 feet 6 inches; A.J. Caldwell, 100 (11.72 seconds); Diplock, 300-meter hurdles, 44.95 seconds; and Kyle Guerrero, 800 run, 2:12.53; contributed Imlay City's seconds.

Imlay City also received thirds courtesy of Aaron Thompson, high jump (5 feet 6 inches) and long jump (17 feet 5 3/4 inches); Matt Fradl, shot put (41 feet 1 inch) and discus (102 feet 3 inches); Nick Reis, 100-meter dash, 11.82 seconds; Cole Nishimiya, 110 hurdles, 17.02 seconds; Nick Nivison, 200-meter dash, 24.31 seconds; Chane Forsyth, 400 dash, 54.46 seconds; and Manjarrez, 1600-meter run, 5:00.07.

Aaron Benton, high jump, 6 feet; Dillon Melly, shot put (43 feet 8 inches) and discus (132 feet); Anthony Bryan, 110 (16.28 seconds) and 300(43.52 seconds) hurdles; and Dylan Creger, 1600 run, 4:49.66; furnished Almont's individual event wins.

The Almont 3200-meter relay of Cody Corbin, Eric Ambrosiewicz, Josh Klebba and Creger pulled up first as well. They stopped the watch at 8:36.99 en route.

Chris Harris, pole vault, 11 feet 6 inches; Benton, long jump, 18 feet 4 inches; Ryan McClean, discus, 123 feet 2 inches; Aaron Born, 200 dash, 24.17 seconds; plus David Burkland, 1600 (4:48.49) and 3200-meter 11:11.48) runs; had Almont's seconds.

Bryan, pole vault, 11 feet; Alex Rhodes, 300 hurdles, 46.67 seconds; Creger, 800-meter run, 2:13.51; and Kyle Robinson, 3200 run, 11:20.81; added thirds to Almont's cause.
