TRI-CITY AREA — The Capac golf team earned a number one finish at a Blue Water Area Conference Tournament hosted by Lum's Castle Creek Golf Course last Wednesday.

Capac edged Cros-Lex, 166-167, for team honors that day. They were followed by Richmond (174), Almont (176), Armada (179), Imlay City (180), Yale (193) and Algonac (206).

Mike Vollen led Capac with a 40 over nine holes. The Chiefs also counted Josh Messner's 41, Colton Randall's 42 and Josh Nemecek's 43.

For Almont, Adam Bacheller was low with a 42. He was given assistance in the scoring department by Brett Gors (43), Brad Standfest (44) and Brett McDonald (47).

Brenan Hopkins and Joey Duquette led Imlay City with 44s. The Spartans also counted Mitch Tietz's 45 and Drew Schultz's 47.

Kevin Kissane has been covering high school sports for the Tri-City Times since 1985. When not standing on a field or court with his camera and notepad, he enjoys golf, travel and family.
