TRI-CITY AREA — Almont slipped past host Capac, 2-1, in a Blue Water Area Conference varsity girls' soccer battle on Tuesday, April 13.
With the result, Almont improves to 2-1 and 1-0. Capac slips to 1-3 and 0-1.
Jelena Rosenberg and Lexi Sheehan provided Almont's goals. Their tallies came 20:10 and 24:30 into the opening half of play.
Kayla Phillips (four) and Brittany Schmalzel (one) combined for five saves as Almont's goalkeepers that day.
Christina Robert accounted for the lone Capac goal. She capitalized on a rebound off a direct free kick 22:30 into half number two.
Taylor Podschwit and Sam Rumbaugh shared the goalkeeping chores for Capac. They wound up with 24 total saves.
A day prior to that, Almont dropped a 2-1 road verdict to non-league counterpart Memphis.
There Memphis used a 1-0 second half advantage to prevail.
Kat Hennig netted the lone Almont goal. Her tally was set up by Rosenberg.
Schmalzel went the distance as Almont's goalkeeper. She wound up with a 13-save performance.
