Imlay girls win doubleheader


North Branch had no answer for the Spartans' strong pitching

IMLAY CITY— The Imlay City Varsity Softball team outscored North Branch in both games of a doubleheader played last Wednesday.

The Spartans won the first game 5-1, with Erin Combs pitching 7 innings, giving up one run and three hits.

Alyssa Dawson went three for four with a double, Terra Volmering was two for four with a double and a RBI, Chandler Katkic, two for four with one RBI, Nicole Rahn, one for four with one RBI. Chelsea Thompson and Erin Combs were both one for three in the hitting department.

In the second matchup, Rahn pitched four innings, allowing two hits, one run, and striking out nine batters.

Dawson went two for four with a game winning RBI triple in the bottom of the seventh. Other Spartans with hits in the second game were Morgan Nelson, Volmering, Thompson, Olivia Leonardi and Rahn.
