April 07, 2010 IMLAY CITY — Former Imlay City High School assistant wrestling Coach Randy Jorgensen will be inducted in the Michigan Chapter of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame on Sunday, May 23 in Lansing. Jorgensen will later be enshrined at the Wrestling Hall of Fame in Stillwater Oklahoma.
An All-State high school athlete at Montabella High School in wrestling, football and track, Jorgensen wrestled and played football at Olivet College from 1974-77. He coached at Michigan's Central Montcalm High School from 1978-80, before serving as assistant coach at Imlay City High School (1981-2004).
Jorgensen will be inducted by Central Michigan University Coach Tom Borrelli, during a dinner-banquet at the Kellogg Center, Michigan State University.
Aside from his high school coaching, Jorgensen was cited for his work with Wrestling USA as a Michigan editor for seven years and his international freestyle coaching which took him to Bulgaria and Germany. He also hosted teams from Brazil and Germany to Imlay City as part of a cultural exchange three times.
